Pilots

Pilot programs began in early 2010 and will serve individual market segments or areas to test key concepts of the program design. The following two pilots are currently in operation.

  • Cherryland Electric Cooperative—This pilot involves loans through a local lender for residential energy efficiency installations with on-bill repayment on the Cherryland electric bill. The pilot is currently available throughout Cherryland’s service area in northwest Michigan and will test customer response to the à la carte eligible measures and the audit-based full-response offerings. During the pilot, Brown Lumber Installed Services and Sales, which manages a network of contractors, will assist customers throughout all aspects of the process.
  • DTE Energy Whole Home Pilot—On June 1, 2010, DTE Energy introduced a new 100 home, six-month program to promote whole home energy savings for residential customers in southeast Michigan with MichCon gas and Detroit Edison electricity service. To deliver the Whole Home Performance Program, DTE Energy teamed up with WellHome (a Masco company), and Michigan Saves to promote, incentivize, and deliver comprehensive home energy retrofits. The program offers rebates of up to $3,500 for whole-home energy retrofits achieving 20% in savings, and low-interest unsecured financing through Michigan Saves, in partnership with AFC First Financial.
