Certification Requirements
Individuals conducting energy audits for projects financed by Michigan SAVES will be required to have appropriate third-party certification or licenses based on the type of audit performed. For the residential program, the certifications must be obtained from either the Building Performance Institute (BPI) or the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNETĀ®). Click here for information on third-party certification and training programs. The nonresidential program will require the individual to be a professional engineer or licensed architect, or to have approved experience working with all aspects of building energy systems.
Michigan SAVES Training
To offer Michigan SAVES financing, the contractor or auditor must attend training on the financial products offered through the program. Additional information on training requirements and opportunities will be available on the Michigan SAVES website in the second quarter of 2010.
Other Requirements
To participate in Michigan SAVES, businesses must provide evidence of appropriate state business licenses, insurance, and certifications. Forms and other registration details will be forthcoming in the second quarter of 2010.
